Do I have to be cleared (Megan's Law) to work in the classroom and to go on field trips?
Yes. I strongly suggest that you get your Megan's Law volunteer requirement cleared. You never know when you would like to come to help students for special events or field trips.
It takes a few weeks to get cleared. In the past, parents have missed out because they waited too long, or they thought they would not participate in the activities. You must be cleared a week before the field trip.Back to Top

Will you be sending home book orders?
Yes. This is a great way for our class to earn points to buy books for our class library.
You will be given a class code, and you can order online.Back to Top
Do you have parent helpers work with students in the class?
Yes ! Please ! I appreciate all the help we can get. If you like to work in the garden please let me know ! During reading groups, it is nice to have a parent table. It helps the station time run so much more smoothly with your help. Thank you ! Grandparents that are cleared are welcome as well.Back to Top
Yes ! I love to have parties ! We work so hard during the rest of the year, so it is nice to have something fun, too. I would appreciate a Head Room Mother and parent party planners. We would celebrate Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, and the End of the Year Party. If you don't want your child to participate in any of the parties due to religious reasons, please let me know.Back to Top
What do I do if my child will be absent from school.
Please, call the school anytime before 8:00 and a contract will be made for your child. I will staple work to the contract and send to the office by the end of the day for you to pick up. Please keep all papers stapled to the contract. Let the office know when you will be out of town and a contract will be made. Contracts are made in the office.Back to Top
May my child keep a water bottle at school?
Yes. I don't let them use them when I am giving direct instruction because of the distraction.They may have them with the as they walk out to recess.Back to Top
What are the procedures to pick up my child early from school?
You may wait in the office for your child. Pick ups must be on the emergency card.Back to Top
Yes. Each trimester there will be a celebration. We will go bowling, go to the movies, and inflatables. Keep Reading !
Will there be an end of the year awards?
Yes.
1. Perfect Attendance
2. AR (goal met 3 out of 3 trimesters)
3. GOLD trophy for all 3 trimesters
4. Millionaire Club for reading one million words in AR

What time does school start on a foggy day?

May siblings join us on field trips and when working in the classroom.
I am so sorry. For liability reasons siblings are not welcome to attend field trips or come to school while working in the classroom.Back to Top
Do I need to provide headphones/earbuds for my child?
No, however, it would be very nice for your child to have their own, especially to prevent lice!Back to Top
What are the field trips for 2nd grade?
We will visit Uptown Sprouts/Downtown Kingsburg and the Zoo. For each field trip there will be a maximum number of chaperones who can accompany us. We will do a drawing in the event that more than the maximum number of chaperones wish to come.

AR is new or relatively new for 2nd graders, so they need all of our help. Please call, text, or come by after school, so I can help with any AR questions.
1. Each child is given a color (for the reading range). Please help your child by checking their books (color) to make sure they are in their reading range. There is a colored book sticker on the bind of the book to help aid children in selecting books quickly.
2. Very important, please make sure you talk to them about the book before taking the test. Many times they take a test before reading a book.
3. The computer lab is open at 7:50 in the morning to take AR tests.
4. They need to bring their books home and back to school every day in order to read at school and take tests.
5. I also give them class time to take AR tests. Many times I allow them to stay in at recess to take a test.Back to Top
Students take the Star test every trimester. It is computer test that gives us their AR reading level.Back to Top
